    A civil parish and rail town, Didcot (/ˈdɪdkɒt, -kət/ DID-kot, -⁠kət) is in the Berkshire historic county and Oxfordshire. Didcot was then a rural Berkshire village, and, appearing in records, it remained so for centuries. To the north and east of the rail on the former marshland, the Ladygrove development is set to double the number of homes in the town since construction began in the late 1980s and in Oxfordshire, Didcot as one of the areas of major growth has been designated.
